“Drifting” was composed for Miranda Deblauwe and performed on her senior recital in 2019. This piece creates a sense of uncertainty with alternating minor and major motifs and driving rhythmic figures that represent the drifting that many of us experience when we are on our own. Though the melodic figure meanders throughout, it always returns to the same somber tune that opens the work.
